Basic Princples of the Hospital

Basic Policy of the Center

The center was established as Japan’s first authentic base of industry-academia-government collaboration for medical equipment development in order to carry out processes from clinical research to regulatory application and continuously develop innovative medical equipment demanded by society. As an organization of Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science (iACT) of Kyoto University Hospital, the center will accelerate the real application of medical innovation through innovative medical equipment development in collaboration with industry and local authorities and effective and efficient cooperation with the Kyoto University Medical Science and Business Liaison Organization (KUMBL).

Mission of the Center

Promote innovative medical equipment development

To contribute to the development of advanced medical equipment, promotion of the medical equipment industry and strengthening its international competitiveness by fostering clinical research, which is currently considered a bottleneck in the development of medical equipment in Japan.

Contribute to cancer control

To contribute to society through the development of medical equipment for which there is high demand, such as for the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer, which develops in one in two people and kills one in three, and other common diseases including lifestyle-related diseases.

Promote the development of human resources

To foster the human resources necessary for developing and improving medical equipment, through collaboration between medical professionals, including medical doctors and technicians, and industry.

Contribute to the community

To contribute to the achievement of the “Kyoto City Life Innovation Promotion Strategy” developed by Kyoto City and the development of advanced human resources in the region through industry-government-academia collaboration activities between companies in the region and Kyoto University.
